My name is Jan Davey and I opened Country Craft Junction in July 2000, in response to many requests for classes from my customers of a Market Stall I ran every Sunday at the Cotters Market in Townsville , Queensland , Australia . I had been operating this stall for two years and on this stall I sold naïve country patchwork in the form of wall hangings, chambray shirts, bags, dolls etc.

After six months of gathering information and carrying out surveys with my friends and customers I came to the conclusion that Kirwan in Townsville would be a great place to open a patchwork come craft shop that sold materials and held classes in patchwork, cloth dolls, embroidery and folk art. The rest is history.

Our humble beginnings soon grew and we expanded into the shop next door by knocking a hole in the wall. This gave us much more room for classes and a special area for cutting pattern kits and Blocks of the Month. We introduced some great visiting tutors to our customers and started holding The Chook Shed Pattern Company Releases twice a year. In 2002 we moved the shop to the next block into a beautiful two story house purposely built as a craft shop in 1991. For the next three years we had a great deal of fun and made lots of great friends and offered customers quality materials together with lots of great classes and companionship. We also started holding our annual Airing of the Quilts in May and traveled to areas in north and western Queensland teaching and offering our traveling patchwork shop.

As the shop grew I was working more and more and home less and less and in August, 2005 when our lease was due for renewal we decided it was time for yet another change.

We moved the shop home to become a home based internet business offering fabric, patterns and patchwork requirements available from our website. My son Tristan has programmed the website and keeps it updated while I operate the day to day business and cut the kits and Block of the Months and design quilts in my spare time.
